The Norfolk Gundog Club held it’s 142nd AV Retriever Novice Stake today at Ampton. The weather was dry windy and we saw some sunny spells! As always at Ampton there was plenty of game and this, coupled with excellent shooting, gave us all the chance to see some outstanding dog work. Once again, all handlers and helpers came with a positive attitude determined to make the Trial a success despite the restrictions placed on us by Covid – thank you all!
We would like to thank Peter Rushbrooke and Family for kindly allowing us to hold our trial on their land. The Judges Keith Bedford – Sam Morley-Riches – Andrew Mutimer and Julian Williams for their thorough, professional, and fair judging. Alan Hammond and his beaters Christopher and Conny for ensuring a consistent flow of game. Phil Parkin and his team of guns for their excellent shooting to provide a fair chance for every dog. Skinners for their continued support of our Trials and thank you to Tim Hankey and FTMS always on the end of the phone and a great support without whom this job would be a great deal more complicated!
The result as follows:
1st – No11 – Geordieland Wolfie – Lab. Ret. Dog – owned and handled by John Keegan.
There were no other awards given.
Despite the restrictions placed on us by the Covid Pandemic this was the 4th Trial Norfolk Gundog Club have managed to run on this year – so a huge thank you to all hosts, Judges, handlers, and helpers from all 4 Trials for following the Covid procedures and adhering to the guidelines in such a positive and flexible manner.
